Closed petition Mandatory 5-Year Sentence for Possession of a Knife or Other Weapon

Due to the increase in knife crime and the amount of people losing their lives. Something NEEDS to change. There should be a mandatory sentence for carrying a knife or weapon of any kind of 5 years. Many people are arming themselves with every intention of using said weapon.

Too many people lose their friends and family to knife crime and crimes involving other weapons.

How many more parents will lose their sons or daughters to knife crime? Please as the Government do something more. I believe a mandatory sentence for carrying a weapon will act as a deterrent to most young people before they think about picking up a knife.
