Closed petition DWP to recognise Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) as a serious

Closed on

We hereby petition the Government to recognise Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) as a serious and debilitating medical condition, often known to interfere with and hinder mobility.

• Change the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) & Personal Independence Payment (PIP) application policies towards patients of Hidradenitis Suppurativa. • Acknowledge HS to be eligible for a DLA/PIP award where applicable. Also, with the addition of Hidradenitis Suppurativa as either (i) a medical condition in it's own right or (ii) acknowledge it is a known skin disease on the DWP's website / Medical guidance for DLA and AA decision makers.
• Also, having the knowledge of a specialist dermatologist to hand if required for the decision making process, so that HS can be clearly understood when deciding whether an applicant fulfils the criteria for DLA/PIP.
