Closed petition Form a statutory regulator for care, interventions & therapy for Autistic people
Closed on
The regulating body would be responsible for protecting Autistic people from unregulated harmful interventions. The regulator should ensure Autistic people & their carers would engage solely with those qualified & credible, under a Code of Ethics set by said regulating body.
Any person delivering interventions for Autistic people should need at least a PGCERT in Autism or equivalent & be able to demonstrate ethical competence & integrity, as determined by this regulating body.
The Autism Act 2009 & the National Strategy 2021-2026 does not mention a regulatory body. We believe this is necessary to ensure that Autistic people are not exposed to harmful interventions or unqualified professionals.
