Rejected petition Reverse or significantly amend forthcoming planned changes to BBC Local Radio

Cross party discussion & debate of the changes that are being brought in by BBC Management without appropriate public consultation. Licence fee payers have a right to be involved in the process.

More details

BBC Management are not taking onboard the feedback & growing opposition from the people that pay for their salaries & radio services - the listeners.

By discussing further in Parliament & getting MPs involved (particularly The Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, shadow equivalent & relevant select committee) hopefully the damaging changes planned will be reversed or significantly amended.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about local BBC radio services are a matter for the BBC, not the UK Government or Parliament.

The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the Government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
