Currently, it is not mandatory in the UK for pet/house sitters to have a DBS check undertaken.

I recently lost my pet cat as a result of cruelty subjected to him by a sitter whom I invited to my home via a house sitters website. The paid platform did not take responsibility for their actions and confirmed that they do not undertake DBS check on the sitters listed on their website.
