We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Stop farmers from having the right to shoot dogs

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to dogs. However, a farmer can shoot a dog if they believe the dog is about to cause harm to their livestock or has caused harm, and there is no other reasonable way to prevent this.

More details

Farmers harming dogs should not be an acceptable option. Currently, the law creates fear and worry in dog owners. There are currently hefty fines of up to £1,000 for the owners of dogs who have caused damage or harm to livestock. Please sign this petition to save future dogs from unnecessary deaths.
