Closed petition Introduce paid leave for employees to attend routine breast screening
Closed on
Enable employees to receive paid leave to attend routine breast screening. At the moment there is no legislation for leave entitlement to attend these vital screening appointments. As more women are working for longer, it does affect the age group 50-70 year olds that are eligible for screenings.
My breast cancer was detected from a routine breast screening appointment. I had no symptoms, yet had an invasive tumour. If people had a legal right to paid leave to attend these appointments, they are more likely to take up the offer of a screening. This could also help cut down on missed appointments. I'm campaigning for this to become a right and the time off be paid. Employees shouldn't be penalised for attending routine breast screening or indeed denied the time off to attend.
