Closed petition Review NHS mental health support for new fathers

Closed on

The Government should carry out a review of the mental health support the NHS offers to new fathers, to consider whether this is adequate.

This review should consider the needs of those suffering from: anxiety, baby loss or child loss, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), depression, birth trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), baby with neonatal stay, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar, schizophrenia, or from having been a victim of abuse.

Fathers play such a vital role in their child's development, and the Government should review whether there are adequate pathways in place to support their mental health. As part of the emphasis on infant mental health and giving children the best start in life, we need to ensure all parents have the mental health support they need from the beginning of the perinatal period.
