Closed petition Do not introduce new building requirements for separate male and female toilets
Closed on
We want the Government to scrap plans to require all new non-domestic buildings to provide separate single-sex toilets for women and men and/or a self-contained, private toilet as a minimum: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-building-requirements-for-separate-male-and-female-toilets
We believe legal requirements to create single-sex toilets for women and men are unnecessary and discriminatory, and will feed into an ongoing hostile environment towards trans people and put many trans binary and nonbinary and intersex people into situations where we could face violence and hostility for being judged as using the “incorrect” toilet, and also cause trans people without accessibility needs to use accessible toilets for safety, when accessible toilets provision is already inadequate.
