Petition Make Guru Poornima a bank holiday
Guru Poornima is the first full moon after summer solstice. It occurs in July or August. This day is celebrated with honouring teachers, Gurus and mentors, who have offered valuable life lessons or education. As a mark of our gratitude, Guru Poornima should be made a bank holiday.
More details
The word “Guru” translates to “dispeller of darkness.” In spirituality, a Guru dispels seeker’s ignorance. While in modern scientific culture, teachers and mentors share valuable knowledge enabling individuals to excel.
As such, the Teacher-Disciple relationship has been guiding humanity, as evidenced by several historic incidents that changed course of history for the betterment.
Because this tradition encourages people to level up and excel, we want the Government to recognise Guru Poornima by making it a bank holiday.
