Rejected petition Change the age of consent to protect those at 16 being groomed

Change the age of consent from 16 to 18z it can be decriminalised from 16-18 if with someone from an appropriate age, but not with someone who is older and in a position to be exploite.

More details

It is wrong that a 16 year old can be exploited and have a sexual relationship with a 30+ year old who has manipulated by someone. We deem a 16 year old not mature enough to drink alcohol but old enough to not be groomed.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

It's unclear what you mean by 'someone from an appropriate age'.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you mean.

You may wish to sign the following petition, which calls for a similar action:

Raise the age of consent for sex from 16 to 18:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
