Closed petition Provide dedicated funding for community residential services for Autistic people
Closed on
Provide dedicated funding for suitable accommodation for Autistic people with challenging behaviour where their care is person centred, they can thrive, be part of a community, and their challenging behaviour can be managed therapeutically without been forcibly medicated and restrained and secluded.
Providing suitable alternatives to psychiatric hospitals should help ensure autistic people are able to live in a community; like Botton village community. With the right environments, lives and money could be saved, and autistic people may not need to be kept in hospitals for long periods.
Keeping Autistic people in an environment which does not meet their needs can be costly and traumatic, and lead to a repeating cycle, as it is not preventative.
