Closed petition Review and reform arrangements for ban on XL Bully type dogs
Closed on
We want the Government to:
Review the ban on rehoming of XL Bully type dogs, and extend the initial time period for rehoming.
Review arrangements for compensation for euthanasia of XL Bully type dogs.
Review the ability of rescue centres to responsibly rehome XL Bully type dogs in their care.
The current legislation has been introduced with haste and we believe without due consideration or diligence.
We don't believe thought has been given to the effect on mental health of the veterinary professionals who may end up euthanising a healthy animal, something they are not obliged, and can refuse to do.
We don't believe adequate consideration has been given to rescue centres now being unable to take these types of dogs for rehoming, and being unable to rehome the ones they have in their care.
We believe compensation for euthanasia is unethical and puts unnecessary pressure on the veterinary profession.
