Closed petition Review calculation for Child Maintenance Payments based on contact arrangements

I would like the Government to review the current calculation methods used for child maintenance payments. I believe this calculation should be based on contact arrangements and consideration should be given to cases whereby steps have been taken by the non-resident parent to establish contact.

I believe that current policy can encourage the resident parent to limit contact in order to secure financial gain based on how child maintenance is calculated. We believe the calculations should also account for non-resident parents who spend time with their children during the day and not just overnight.
