Closed Increase the minimum sentence for illegal possession of a knife to 20 years

We want anyone found carrying a knife, without very good reason, to be automatically given a 20-year prison sentence as a minimum.

Too many people are needlessly being stabbed. There is almost never a good reason to carry a knife in public but many feel they can carry, and use, knives without the fear of appropriate punishment.

Make the punishment so strong that people will stop carrying and using knives.
