The impact on the whole family when a parent has poor mental health can have lasting effects. As part of the emphasis on infant mental health and giving children the best start in life, we need parents to have the mental health support they need from the beginning of the perinatal period.

This review should consider the needs of those suffering from: anxiety, baby loss or child loss, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), depression, birth trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), baby with neonatal stay, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar, schizophrenia, eating disorder or from having been a victim of abuse.

On Tuesday 12 March, MPs will debate the information on support available to parents and carers of infants. The debate will be led by Sally-Ann Hart MP.
She would like to hear from people who have recent experience as a parent or carer of an infant.
Specifically, she would like to understand what information they were given about services regarding:
- breastfeeding and infant feeding
- physical and mental health
- parent-infant relationships.
