Make 'care experience' a protected characteristic. This could give care leavers a higher chance of positive outcomes in their future and stop discrimination against people with care experience.

If the government were to make care experience a protected characteristic it could help reduce discrimination and send a message that the rights of care experience people should be protected. Care leavers face poorer outcomes in their physical and mental health, education, employment and housing. This might be improved by making it a protected characteristic.
