Closed Introduce mandatory checks for pet ownership

The government should introduce a law that states that before people are considered for owning a pet, they have to have a suitability test to ensure that owning a pet is right for them.

I think that too many animals are abandoned or neglected because unsuitable owners are allowed to have pets or they did not understand what owning a pet entailed. I think that if suitability checks were used, more pets would go to the right homes and animals would have a better quality of life.
