Why was this petition rejected?

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

Positive discrimination is already unlawful in Great Britain. It is legal for employers to take positive action that aims to reduce disadvantage, meet different needs and increase participation. We could accept a petition calling on the Government to ban positive action to reduce disadvantage, meet different needs and increase participation, if that's what you want to happen.

You can find out more about existing rules on positive action here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/positive-action-in-the-workplace-guidance-for-employers/positive-action-in-the-workplace

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
