We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee
Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Give parents/guardians a right to access social media accounts of their children
I want parents/guardians to have the right to be given access to their children's social media accounts, by social media providers, both when the child is alive and if they are deceased.
More details
My son Jools was 14 when he took his life in 2022. At the time the new Coroner's powers to request social media access were not in force. However, I also think this is too late.
Since my son's death, I have not been able to access information to see what my son was looking at that could have contributed to him taking his own life.
Parents should have the right to full access to their child's social media accounts either whilst they are still alive (to protect them) or if they die as in my case.

Parliament will consider this for a debate.
Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate.

About the petition you signed on right of parents/guardians to access their children's social media
There will be a General Election on 4 July. This means that Parliament closes for a few weeks before the vote, for the election campaign. The Petitions Committee (the group of MPs who decide which petitions are debated) will cease to exist when Parliament closes.
After the election, the new House of Commons will appoint new committees. It will be up to the new Petitions Committee to decide whether to schedule a debate on this petition. Previous Petitions Committees have generally agreed to schedule debates on petitions that received 100,000 signatures but were unable to be debated before a general election.
We don't know yet exactly when a new Petitions Committee will be appointed, but will update our website with news about the new Petitions Committee and reopening of the site. You can also follow us on X (formerly Twitter) at @HoCPetitions for updates.
We will let you know if a new Petitions Committee decides to schedule a debate on this petition.
