Petition Negotiate a youth mobility scheme with the EU
We would like the Government to negotiate a youth mobility scheme with the EU. We believe this would expand opportunities for school children and young people to take trips, study, teach and volunteer abroad. We think this should include passport and visa free school trips.
More details
A youth mobility scheme could improve travel links for children and young people and reduce barriers to travelling, living and working in Europe for young Brits.
Young people already benefit from youth mobility schemes with other countries. Negotiating a scheme with the EU could be an important step in delivering real change for young people.
We also think that this policy would go a long way in rebuilding our relationship with our European neighbours.

Potential merits of a youth mobility scheme between the EU and the UK: debate in Parliament
On 29 January, MPs debated the potential merits of a youth mobility scheme between the EU and the UK in Parliament.
This was a Westminster Hall debate led by Sarah Olney MP. Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds MP responded on behalf of the Government.
Explainer
Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to debate a topic of their choice, and receive a response from the Government.
They are a way to:
• Raise awareness of an issue
• Seek to influence government policy
• Put the views of a backbench MPs, political parties, and the Government on record.
They do not involve a vote on a particular action or decision.
