Petition Extend the theory test expiry date from the current 2 years to 3 years
I would like the Government to extend the theory test expiry date from the current 2 year period to 3 years. I believe extending this would be fair and just. Extending it could help the DVLA deal with the Covid backlog and third parties booking lots of slots and selling them on at higher prices.
More details
I feel we should get our money’s worth. How can we be told to pay money for a theory test so we can then get lessons and book a driving test, if we are then told via the DVLA that there isn't any driving test dates available within the time period we need.

On 4 December, the Transport Committee held an evidence session on Driving tests availability.
The Committee heard from experts in the policy area, the Chief Executive of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Department for Transport, Lilian Greenwood MP.
The Committee discussed:
- The impact of the difficulty in accessing practical driving tests
- How the focus on HGV driving tests might have affected other parts of the industry
Possible solutions for reducing waiting times and preventing slots being blocked out by automated bookings
