Standardise grocery items’ sizes, weights and volumes to allow easier price comparisons and reduce manufacturers ability to use the deceptive practice of making small reductions in package sizes without reducing the cost or advertising the reduction, commonly referred to as shrinkflation.
More details
To allow a fair comparison of grocery product prices and not allow manufacturers to reduce the true value of a product without it advertising the reduction in value.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about the size of grocery packages are a matter for individual businesses, not the UK Government or Parliament.
You could start a new petition asking the Government to require businesses to clearly label products that have changed in size, if that is what you would like to happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
