Petition Review the Access to Work Scheme
Investigate how the Access to Work scheme is operating. This review should ensure the scheme offers fair and timely support for all disabled people seeking employment.
More details
We believe that a system meant to promote equality could be perpetuating discrimination, inconsistent decisions and what we feel are unreasonable delays, potentially defeating the purpose of the scheme, which is to help disabled people stay in or enter employment. We believe these delays can cause significant financial and emotional distress, and in some cases, it has been reported that they are leading to job losses.

The consultation is being run by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), which is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits.
