We call on the Government to review how to protect the UK’s democracy in respect of its relationship with China and the UK Government’s engagement with the Chinese Government on trade issues.

This is in the context of allegations that China has been monitoring criticism of its government overseas, including in the UK, and its sanctioning of UK Members of Parliament. We believe that such actions supress the freedom of expression in the UK.
