Closed petition Tax banks to recoup the £23bn they lost taxpayers in the banking crisis
To recoup the outstanding/lost £23bn from the financial/banking sector, following the bailout during the financial crisis. We think this should be recouped through emergency taxation on banks, and that this could be used to fill what has been described as £22bn black hole in public finances.
More details
The Government have said there is a £22bn black hole in the public finances. We are told by the Chancellor the country is in trouble. We think it will be every day people, pensioners, small businesses and farmers who are going to pick up the tab. The Government bailed out the banks and other institutions in the City of London in 2008. We think it is time for them to return the favour, return the money they took and return the budget back to black.
