Rejected petition Create an Open Work Visa for Health and Care Workers.
According to report, some 450 sponsor licences in the sector have been revoked since July 2022 leaving workers sponsored by such companies hopeless with no jobs and the chance to support the care sector.
Most health and care companies that have vacancies do not also have sponsorship licence.

The Home Office says overseas workers who have joined the UK care sector have been vulnerable to exploitation.
An open work visa will give the freedom to health and care workers to change employers .
This visa will not require an offer of employment but can be subject to yearly renewal with the Home Office as long as the visa requirements are met.
