Petition Abolish Sunday trading laws to boost the economy
We want the government to abolish Sunday trading restrictions, allowing shops of all sizes to operate throughout the day. We want them to remove current limitations on larger stores that force them to open later or close earlier.
More details
We think this could boost the UK economy by enabling businesses to thrive on Sundays. Many people work throughout the week, and we think that by closing shops early on Sundays this limits their ability to spend, hindering economic growth.

Explainer
Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to debate a topic of their choice, and receive a response from the Government.
They are a way to:
- raise awareness of an issue
- seek to influence government policy
- put the views of backbench MPs, political parties, and the Government on record.
They do not involve a vote on a particular action or decision.
