Rejected petition Give children priority regarding preferred schools if their school gets closed
If a council decides to close a school, children needing to then look for a new school should be given priority so they can get their preferred new school.
More details
At the moment children who need to look for a new school because their school gets closed do not get priority when applying for a place at a new school. This is unfair! The children are going through enough trauma as it is so shouldn’t be made to suffer even more. Also, the parents will possibly encounter further problems if their child does not get into their preferred school (the new school given to them might be too far away or not easy to get to, for example).
