Rejected petition Change The Autism Diagnosis for Severely Autistic people.
Not to diagnose those who are severely Autistic with the same diagnoses as someone with mild Autism. Severely Autistic People need to have their own prioritised waiting lists and a new name for their diagnosis such as A1 Autism.
More details
Those who have severe autism who cannot communicate or function without support. Need a diagnosis that is recognised as severe. There are children with severe Autism waiting to be assessed that are on a 2 year waiting list. Due to the variety on the spectrum this means someone who cannot talk, is incontinent and struggles to eat is waiting a un reasonable amount of time to get support due to being on the same list as someone who cannot talk function well but needs mild support.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We understand that you are concerned about diagnosis and waiting lists for autistic people. However, the diagnosis process you describe is the responsibility of the relevant clinicians and professionals, rather than the responsibility of Government or Parliament. If you want to resubmit a petition to focus on allocating resources to reduce waiting times, we could accept this.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
