Rejected petition Bring Autism and ADHD into The Equality Act of 2010 to prevent discrimination

To have Autism and ADHD recognised as a disability under The Equality Act of 2010

More details

To support individuals with Autism or ADHD, or both to give them equal opportunity to everybody else in getting a job. It isn't their condition that stops it, sadly we live in a world where society places these barriers which makes getting employment much harder

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The legal definition of disability is contained in the Equality Act 2010, which defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment, which is long term and has an adverse effect on the person’s ability to carry out day-to-day activities.

ADHD would be considered as a disability under the Equality Act 2010 if the traits of the condition were severe enough to affect the employee’s day-to-day living activity.

If you would like changes to this, you could submit a new petition about it.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
