Closed petition Fund free wheelchairs for people who need them

I want the government to reform the system of providing wheelchairs on the NHS. I want them to ensure that everyone who needs a wheelchair is provided one for free, in a timely manner, that is tailored to their individual needs, regardless of their income or location.

I think the current system is broken, leaving many people who need wheelchairs without them, impeding their ability to do daily tasks, leave their house or work.

If the government wants to get disabled people back into work, I think this starts with giving us our independence and mobility back, allowing us the freedom to travel without having to spend large amounts of money on wheelchairs. Some people are left in debt, struggling to afford an essential medical device.

    On Wednesday 11 March, Seamus Logan MP will lead a debate in Parliament on the provision of disability equipment. 

    He will focus mainly on the provision of wheelchairs and housing adaptations, but is interested in other forms of equipment too.
