Rejected petition Remove the Leptospirosis Vaccine Requirement for Dog Daycare & Boarding
We respectfully request the removal of the mandatory leptospirosis vaccination requirement for dogs in daycare & boarding facilities.
My dog had a bad reaction to the Leptospirosis Vaccine & a large patch of her skin fell off, she now has a permanent bald patch, others have experienced much worse.
More details
Adverse Reactions: Many dogs experience severe side effects from the leptospirosis vaccine, causing distress for pets & owners.
Limited Efficacy: The vaccine’s effectiveness varies, & not all dogs are at risk of exposure to leptospirosis.
Informed Choice: Pet owners should have the right to make healthcare decisions for their pets without mandatory requirements.
Alternative Measures: Improved sanitation & monitoring can effectively reduce the risk of leptospirosis without mandatory vaccination.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Currently it is not a legal requirement for dog day-care and boarding facilities in the UK to mandate annual leptospirosis vaccinations.
It is a matter for individual dog day-care and boarding facilities whether they mandate the vaccinations, not the UK Government and Parliament.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
