Petition Abolish the Minimum Income Floor in Universal Credit.

We think the Minimum Income Floor (MIF) is weighted against self-employed people and is incompatible with the fluctuating nature of the creative self-employment industry. We think it drives people away from the creative arts and into lower-skilled work.

More details

We think the Government should revoke clause 62 of the Universal Credit Regulations 2013 which assumes people who are “gainfully” self-employed have a minimum level of earnings for the purpose of calculating universal credit. We think the MIF should be abolished, which could ensure the self-employed do not disproportionately face poverty and hardship.
