Rejected petition Protect Privacy/Safety of Domestic Abuse Survivors by not using nearest court
Currently, there are no measures in place to prevent victims' local courts from being revealed when abusive ex-partners apply for family proceedings, which exposes our whereabouts. There is an urgent need for structural change to ensure the safety of domestic abuse survivors
More details
Family courts should not be used as a tracking device by abusers. Give victims who have fled domestic abuse the right to not have the court nearest to them automatically used and being used for the abuser to gain knowledge on the where about’s of the victim. Leading to the victim to once again live in fear on a daily basis or have to move again and constantly anticipate court being used as a way to continuously be found.
