Closed petition: Adopt the same bus driving hour regulations as used in the EU

Amend the domestic hours legislation so that bus drivers operate under the same driving hours rules and entitlements as the EU.

At present bus drivers are only entitled to a 30 minute break after driving for 5 hours and 30 minutes. We think this is inadequate rest. Under EU rules they would get a 45 minute break after driving for 4 hours and 30 minutes. Bus drivers are only entitled to 24 hours off every other week under domestic rules but are entitled to 45 hours every week under EU rules. We think the current system is inadequate and unsafe.
