Rejected petition Overturn the UK's New Legal Definition of a Woman
Overturn the UK's New Legal Definition of a Woman, this would not introduce a new definition, but just remove the current definition as set by the UK Supreme Court.
More details
The UK Supreme Court has ruled that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex, 'sex is binary' an utterly vague and exclusionary definition.
This disqualifies them from sex-based protections, displaying non-understanding on how misogyny affects trans women. Furthermore, trans women with a Gender Recognition Certificate are also disqualified from classification as a woman.
This practically invalidates the purpose of a Gender Recognition Certificate, and Equality Act 2010.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The UK Government cannot change court judgements but could introduce new legislation about this.
We already have a petition open calling for the Government to amend the Equality Act to define the terms woman and man not based on biological sex.
