Billy Wright, who was born inIronbridge, was scouted by Wolverhampton Wanderers when he was 14 years of age.
His career blossomed and he went on to play for, and captain, England.
He became the first player in the World to win a hundred caps for his country; winning 105 in all.
Throughout his career, he was never once booked.
He was a dedicated family man, and raised two daughters and a stepson with his wife Joy Beverley., of the famous Beverley Sisters.
He died of Pancreatic Cancer in 1994.
