Rejected petition Not Recognise Chinese nationality who are BNO holders living in the UK

We call on the UK Government to formally refuse to recognise the Chinese nationality who are currently live in the UK with holding BN(O) status, given that the PRC and Hong Kong governments do not recognise the BN(O) as a valid nationality of these people.

More details

In light of China's Nationality Law and its consistent refusal to acknowledge the legitimacy of BN(O) status, we urge the UK to reciprocate by no longer recognising Chinese nationality for BN(O) holders residing in the UK. This would help protect BN(O) holders from diplomatic and legal ambiguity and uphold their rights under UK jurisdiction.

We further petition the UK Government to create a pathway for BN(O) holders who live in the UK to register directly as British Citizens.
