Rejected petition Debate a no confidence motion in the Prime Minister over Chagos sovereignty deal
We call on the House of Commons to debate a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister for proceeding with negotiations over the transfer of sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius without securing the democratic consent of Parliament or the British public.
More details
This decision affects the territorial integrity of the United Kingdom and its Overseas Territories. We believe that bypassing parliamentary approval and denying the public a voice in such a significant matter undermines democratic accountability.
The government must not transfer sovereign territory without a full parliamentary debate and vote. We urge MPs to consider this a matter of confidence in the leadership of the Prime Minister.
