Rejected petition Allow parents/guardians to take their children on overnight educational trips.

Please consider the possibility of allowing parents, carers to take there children on overnight educational trips. Permitting this would enable children with additional needs to participate at potentially quieter times. They will also feel safe and secure having more time within there surroundings.

More details

Regrettably, many children with additional needs currently miss out on overnight educational trips as they are at increased risk of feeling overwhelmed, becoming distressed, or experiencing separation anxiety from their guardians.

Ensuring that all children with additional needs have the chance to benefit from educational trips is of paramount importance.

Those with parental responsibility should have the option to take their children on educational trips that align with school-organised activities. These arrangements could be made in agreement with the schools, recognising the government's commitment to ensuring children receive a comprehensive education.
