Closed petition: Require elected officials to keep comments open on official social media
Closed on
We think elected officials must keep comments open on official social media to foster dialogue, transparency, and accountability. We believe disabling comments stifles public feedback, blocks democratic participation, and silences constituents’ voices, undermining trust and parliamentary democracy.
Introduce and enforce clear guidelines and codes of conduct requiring elected officials to maintain open and accessible comment sections on their official social media platforms.
We think that the principle that official social media channels of elected public servants should be public forums intended for genuine engagement should be affirmed.
Encourage and educate elected officials on best practices for managing online engagement.
