Closed Speed Up DBS Checks for Taxi and Private Hire Drivers

We urge the government to:

Introduce a fast-track process for licensed taxi and private hire drivers
Ensure clearer communication and better accountability between the police, DBS, and licensing authorities
Improve processing times to no more than 14 days.

Currently, many drivers can experience delays of several weeks or even months when renewing their DBS certificate. This can prevent them from working and may lead to serious financial hardship. These delays can affect working families, many of whom may depend entirely on this income.

We think our work is vital to public transport and community safety. We ask for fairer treatment and quicker processing to help allow us to continue serving the public without disruption.
