Closed petition Improve accessibility standards in leisure vehicles, caravans and motorhomes

Legislate to improve minimum accessibility requirements within the caravan/motorhome industry. For example, a 750mm minimum habitation door width and bracketry to allow installation of a cassette lift/ramp.

More details

I want improved accessibility standards put in place because at the moment I feel disabled people may be discriminated against within the industry. There have been regulations within the housing industry for years with regards to door widths, access routes, activity spaces etc so why not for the leisure industry?

There are electronic steps on many new caravans/motorhomes to assist non-disabled people to gain access, so why can't the same courtesy be extended to disabled people too?

    Explainer

Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to debate a topic of their choice, and receive a response from the Government.

    They are a way to:

    • raise awareness of an issue
    • seek to influence government policy
    • put the views of backbench MPs, political parties, and the Government on record.

They do not involve a vote on a particular action or decision.
