Rejected petition Reducing the voting age in England must be approved by a binding referendum.

Hold a referendum to openly record and evidence the proportion of English voting public who are either FOR or AGAINST the lowering of voting age below 18 years.

Ensure that the age of voting in England cannot be lowered unless it gains the majority approval of the existing English electorate.

As the parent of a 15 year old, I recognise that although my child is intelligent, broad minded and reasonable, they are not equipped with the necessary life experience to understand the complexity and gravity of electing national leaders. Whilst many agents are capable of influencing voters of any age; 16 & 17 year olds are especially vulnerable to coercion and manipulation by agents both domestic and global who seek to undermine the democratic process for personal or political gain.
