The UK has been plagued by political shortsightedness for decades. Prime Ministers only act in the short term interest. Without an accountability mechanism, successive governments will continue to be plagued by short-termism, which will hamper the future of the country.
A public enquiry will be able to reduce corruption and cronyism, and ensure that governments do not go on to "salt the earth" for the next administration.
