Rejected petition Protect trans people’s rights under the Human Rights Act

We think the Equality Act should protect us all from discrimination, not act as the enforcement mechanism for a transgender bathroom ban. We urge Parliament to take immediate action to protect trans people’s human rights.

More details

The draft Code of Practice to the Equality Act - produced by the Equality and Human Rights Commission - seeks to force all gendered services, facilities and groups to exclude trans people, whether they want to or not. Without intervention, this Code will become statutory without ever being scrutinised or debated in Parliament and will have a devastating impact on the trans community in the UK. This is not right.
