Rejected petition Mandatory that TV broadcasters are to provide factual information to the public
Make it mandatory that TV presenters and TV programmers such as ITV and BBC are to inform their viewers of the factual information at the end of TV debates around politics to prevent misinformation being shared as it can be harmful and damaging whilst also encouraging hateful behaviour.
More details
Making it mandatory for broadcasters to provide factual summaries after political debates would help reduce misinformation, protect democracy, and prevent harmful or divisive narratives. It ensures accountability from politicians, supports public trust in media, and promotes informed decision-making. By clarifying misleading claims, broadcasters can limit the spread of hate and strengthen responsible, fact-based political discourse.
