Rejected petition: Give the North of England a referendum to join Scotland as an independent North.

Rejected on

Give the North of England the right to have their say, allow a referendum vote for the North to have a voice and it's independence away from London

For too long, power and wealth in the UK have been concentrated in London and the South, while the North has been left behind. Despite our industrial heritage, natural beauty, and resilient communities, we face higher taxes, rising costs, and lower public services.

The North built Britain’s global reputation, yet decisions are made in Westminster without regard for our unique needs and identity. We lack the voice and agency we deserve. It’s time for the North to decide its future.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We are unsure if you would like an independent North of England, for the North of England to become part of a devolved Scotland within the UK, or the North of England and Scotland to merge as an independent country outside of the UK.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
