Rejected petition: Start school days later and end later.
Rejected on
We want the Government to change school start times so that schools begin later in the morning, with lessons finishing later in the afternoon.
Research shows teenagers naturally sleep and wake later, meaning early school starts reduce concentration, wellbeing and health. Starting later would improve attendance, academic performance, and mental health, as well as helping pupils feel more rested and ready to learn.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Decisions about what time the school day starts and ends are a matter for schools, not the UK Government or Parliament.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
